Apple Maps is Aple’s mapping service that competes with Google Maps. It is the default map application in Mac OS and iOS. It recieved massive backlash during it’s 2012 launch due to it’s inaccurate directions and out of date and incomplete listings. Since its introduction, further software development has addressed many of those criticisms.

The data in Apple Maps is used in many Apple services and is used for Search Suggestions in Mac OS and iOS.


Data Sources

Although Business info can be entered directly into Apple’s database directly through Maps Connect by a business owner or an Agency, Apple has arrangements with the following companies which provide their Data directly to Apple for businesses that have not.


Canada

Most Canadian data is for businesses that have not been added through Maps Connect is sourced from either Yelp or Yellow Pages.
